Weekend at L’Hotel in Paris

Wednesday, November 30th, 2011

Once home to Oscar Wilde, L’Hôtel is an intimate 20-room boutique hotel that features stunning architecture and decadent “Belle Époque” opulence in the heart of Paris’s Left Bank. This is the perfect hotel for a traveler who wants to experience a unique, quaint, and traditional Parisian experience. L’Hôtel is a legendary Left Bank hangout popular with turn-of-the-century writers and music-hall stars. TImbued with Old World elegance, this tiny Paris luxury hotel has been updated to appeal to a hip, 21st-century clientele.

When you walk through the doors of L’Hôtel, the first thing that grabs your attention is the famous six-story circular staircase leading to the opulent upstairs bedrooms, the silk and velvet furnishings of which would make Marie Antoinette feel right at home. The hotel’s “Le Restaurant” won a coveted one-Michelin star rating in 2008. Sample dishes include prawns roasted with chestnuts and griolles mushrooms, sole steamed in wine with sweet onions, cockles, razor fish, and shrimp, and roasted venison in a pepper and red currant sauce.

This Paris Luxury Hotel also boasts a private swimming pool and steam room in its catacomb basement (almost unheard of in central Paris) and is a short walk from Left Bank’s most popular attractions.

Weekend at Hotel Mont Royal Chantilly

Thursday, October 20th, 2011

Welcome to a place where dreams come true, enchanted forests exist, and fairytales are a part of everyday life. Welcome to the Tiara Château Hotel Mont Royal Chantilly.Surrounded by the enchanting Chantilly Forest, the Tiara Château Hotel Mont Royal Chantilly will sweep you into a fantasy land. This is the kind of place that arouses awe and wonder, where every exquisite detail has been thought of, planned, and perfectly executed, and where you half-expect to see knights galloping in the distance, making haste in their quest to save maidens and slay dragons.

Every inch of the property is steeped in history, its walls practically bursting with secrets stored throughout centuries. Relax in the Château’s original smokehouse-turned bar, the Le Stradivarius, with its collection of old books, a huge fireplace, and lavish furnishings. Weekend in Haute Loire at Les Deux Abbesses

Wednesday, June 22nd, 2011

Lava from volcanoes sculpted the magnificent landscapes of the Midi de l’Auvergne, creating a fabulous setting for this fairytale hotel. The heart of this Auvergne lodge, consisting of a dozen restored cottages, is the little 12th century château which sits above the village perched on a basalt spur, between two rivers. Once you cross the threshold of the austere walls, the dreamlike ambience created in each cottage beckons you to a wonderland: La Grange and its canopy made from birch trunks, straight out of an imaginary forest, or La Cabane with its bathroom hewn from lava. This place evokes a child-like wonder where emotion reigns supreme.

The entire hotel is actually a small village and creates a unique concept combining total independence of service with the warmth and personality of a friendly home.

Golf, Outdoor pool, mountain biking, hiking, horseback riding, hunting, fishing, canoeing, rafting, hot-air ballooning, helicopter, quad bikes, 4×4, scooter, canyoning, shooting, archery, nature hiking and guided medieval history tours, mycological excursions, reflexology, relaxing massage

Weekend in Burgundy: Abbaye de la Bussière

Friday, June 17th, 2011

The grounds exude tranquility and are surrounded by a lake and a botanical garden. Here you will find this ancient Cistercian abbey dating back to the 12th century that welcomes its guests in style. Magnificently restored by the Cummings family, it stands out with its subtle external architecture and spectacular interior design (have you ever dined in a cathedral-like setting?). Antique furniture and silken fabrics create an ambiance of subtle sophistication and pure elegance. And the wine list offers the very best of Burgundy.

Set in 15 acres of beautiful parkland, the old buildings have been transformed into a luxurious country house hotel where you can relax and enjoy the unique, refreshing atmosphere of this ancient place. The monks have long gone but Abbaye de la Bussière still retains an air of tranquility, hard to find in the modern world.

The Abbey offers an individual and unique experience, not only historically with the buildings but professionally with the staff, cuisine and amenities.  It is the very epitome of the values of the 5Cs philosophy of Relais & Châteaux: Courtesy, Charm, Character, Calm and Cuisine.

Following the successful entry into the Relais & Châteaux association and achieving a Michelin star in 2007, they began 2008 with the prestigious award of Andrew Harper ‘Hideaway of the Year 2008’.

In June 2009, they finished the renovations of the Orangerie to create a superb facility for seminars and private functions. 2010 got off to a good start when they learned that the Abbey, with the head chef Emmanuel Hébrard, retained its Michelin star.

Golf, mountain biking, hiking, horseback riding, hunting, fishing, sailing, water-skiing, canoeing
